The Four Thresholds
Thresholds Are Dynamic
Your dog’s threshold can change from one day to the next. Sleep, hunger, environment, previous experiences, and accumulated stress all affect how much they can handle. A situation they managed well earlier in the week may feel harder another day. Measure each exposure as a temperature check: assess their threshold within the session, then compare it across sessions over time. Individual days may vary, but the broader trend should show increasing tolerance and recovery, not progressive deterioration.
Thresholds are Trainable.
Work just under your dog's limit, never over it. This is how you raise it over time. If you want help finding where your dog's thresholds actually sit, that's where we start.
